John Woolever Obituary
April 14, 1922 - April 9, 2010
John D. "Jack" Woolever of Sarasota died April 9, 2010,
while living with his daughter in Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia.
He is survived by his three daughters, the Rev. Joyce W. Holmes of Sarasota; JoAnne E. Woolever (Joseph Molitor) of Anchorage, Alaska; Judith A. Woolever of Pine, Colo.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth H. (John) Hennessy of Goddard, Kan., Timothy M. (Jayne) Holmes of Olathe, Kan.; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Dylan, Timothy Jr. and Sophia Holmes.
He is a descendant of 14 American Revolutionary Warriors and an active member of the Son of the American Revolution, Manasota chapter SAR.
There will be no graveside services per his request.
There will be a memorial service at St. Winifred's Episcopal Church in Sarasota on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information contact the Rev. Joyce W. Holmes at (863) 257-0537.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Sarasota County, or to the John Douglas Dominic Woolever Memorial Scholarship Fund at Pine View School. I extend warm thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Mr. Woolever. I was in the charter class at Pine View and have always held a special place in my heart for our principal. He led with integrity, respect, intelligence, innovation, and a special sense of caring for each of us. He shared personally in the excitement, pride, and anticipation experienced by students, faculty, and staff as we embarked on what we could sense would be an historical beginning. He was a remarkable man who left a legacy of inspiration and admiration.

Mr. Woolever was my Biology teacher at Riverview, way back in 1961. He was a wonderful teacher, one whom I never forgor. I would see his name in the paper over the years and it always brought fond memories. My prayers and condolences to his family.

I would like to extend my prayers and condolences to Mr. Woolever's family. Please know that he was well loved by many of us who attended Pine View. I just read about Jack's death and want to send my thoughts and prayers for PEACE go his family. Jack and Pat were the first Riverview High School Faculty se met when we moved to Sarasota in 1958. Pat stopped by our house and invited me to Riverview Faculty Wives. What Memoriies! With love in Christ, Kay Shadduck
