Joseph Barnes Obituary

Joseph Ralph Barnes, 100, Bradenton, formerly of Binghamton, N.Y., died Nov. 29, 2007.
Services will be in Endicott, N.Y. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes and Crematory, 26th St. Chapel, is in charge.
Born in California, Md., May 30, 1907, he is predeceased by his wife, Cathryn Horn Barnes, May 28, 1912-Jan. 10, 1990; newborn son, Edward Ross Barnes, April 6, 1932; great-grandson, Hayden Barnes Ellias, Dec. 19, 1996-May 7, 2007.
Survived by his son and his wife, Jay Ralph, and Joanne Mary Barnes; grandchildren Debra Jo Drennen of Collegeville, Pa., Ann Marie Colangelo of Coral Springs, Fla., Joseph Ralph Barnes of Stamford, Conn., Mary Cathryn Ellias of Stephens City, Va.; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Retired creator and manager of Community Store at Binghamton (N.Y.) State Hospital for 45 years, a lifetime member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge of Bradenton. He lived in Binghamton, N.Y., from 1916 to 1973, then moved to Bradenton, living in Chateau Village, Garden Lakes, The Windsor at Lakewood Ranch.
Funeral services: Allen Memorial Home, Endicott, N.Y., burial, Vestal Hills Memorial Cemetery, Vestal, N.Y.
Memorial donations made to: The Pines of Sarasota, 1501 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236; or TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

To the Barnes family
I was sorry to read about the passing of Ralph, I was his Coca-Cola salesman at the Community Store at the State Hospital Binghamton for over twenty years. I had the highest respect for Ralph and shared many a laugh with him over the years.
