Nina Santostasi Obituary

Santostasi, Nina F.
Jul. 12, 1931 - Jan. 18, 2016
Nina F. Santostasi, 84, of Sarasota, formerly of Westchester County, New York, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18th, 2016.
Our precious Nina was born in New York to parents, Joseph and Concetta Mangiamele. Beautiful in body and soul, Nina leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Nick; sons Nick, Jr. (Marcia) and Anthony, daughter, Carrie, beloved grandchildren Stephanie, Steven and Natalie, brother Matthew (Sally) Mangiamele, nieces Julie Alferi , Janine Mangiamele and other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Carmine and nephew, Joseph.
Nina was a woman of great faith who loved God and her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than being with her family and just enjoying each other's company. In her earlier years, she loved living in New York, working as an executive secretary for such companies as New York Life, Northern Telecom, IBM and Unum, taking college classes and always enjoyed the fall season, her favorite time of year. In her later years she loved going for walks, attending the ladies Bible study at the Tabernacle, drinking hot cups of tea and going out to lunch with friends.
We wish to thank the physicians, nurses and caregivers for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Nina and our entire family during the past several years-especially those at the Senior Friendship Center of Sarasota, Arden Courts and Tidewell Hospice. We are also grateful for the family and friends who prayed for us and encouraged us in our care giving journey. What made it easier is that, although she lost the ability to speak in recent years, Nina maintained her sweet and loving disposition throughout. We will love her always and miss her terribly.
We will celebrate her life at a 10:00 AM Mass Saturday, January 23rd to be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 7900 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota. Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 25th at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Nina's name to one of the following: Senior Friendship Center of Sarasota, Alzheimer's Association or Tidewell Hospice.

It's always so hard to put into words my deepest condolences on the loss of your Mom. It is comforting to know she is no longer suffering and is now watching over you and your family, trying to console you all while you grieve. I am very happy that you were able to be with her, your Dad and Sister/Brother when she passed.
