Ruth Hochadel Obituary

Ruth Elizabeth Hochadel, 88, of Sarasota passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, she was a graduate of Clifford Scott High School, East Orange, N.J. in 1946. Her high school yearbook described her as "always good-natured, good-humored and free". Ruth had been a local Sarasota resident since 1990. She was a member of Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church enjoying the choir and playing the organ on occasion and also a member of the Sarasota Choral Society. She was an Eastern Star Past Matron. Ruth enjoyed her grandchildren, square dancing, hospital volunteer work, gardening (especially orchids and roses), golf, knitting and in N.J. she enjoyed ice skating. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years Joseph E.; sons, Joseph F. Hochadel; Gary R. Hochadel; Thomas J. (and wife, MaryAnne) Hochadel; a brother, Richard (and wife Barbara) McDermott and five grandchildren, Briana, Ryan, Kerstyn, Derek and Jason; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church on Thursday, March 16th at 10:30am followed by a "celebration of life" gathering and the committal ceremony at the Sarasota National Cemetery. Donations may be made to Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church, 4826 McIntosh Rd, Sarasota, FL 34233 (http://www.beeridgechurch.org/) or Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota (http://tidewellhospice.org). Arrangements by All Veterans-All Families Funerals & Cremations.
