Stanley Tsigounis Obituary

Tsigounis, Stanley A.
Oct. 14, 1922 - Feb. 18, 2012

Retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Stanley A. Tsigounis died Feb. 18, 2012.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. Interment will be in New Jersey.
Stan enlisted in the Marine Corps in World War II after graduating from Colgate University.
In 1944, Stan was shipped to the South Pacific where he was wounded on Iwo Jima. He received the Purple Heart, Presidential Citation, and other medals.
After his retirement from the Corps, Stanley moved to Bergen County, N.J., where he started his real estate career. He was an innovative real estate developer in New Jersey and Florida.
He is survived by wife Anne and four children from a previous marriage, Dr. Stanley A. Tsigounis Jr., Barbara A. Mayo, Stephen Tsigounis and Alexis Pierce; brother Dr. Rev. James Tsigounis; sister Chrissie Turner; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
