Thomas Chrapowicki Obituary

Chrapowicki, Thomas M.
Jun 16, 1944 - Jan 14, 2021
Thomas ("Tom" or "Chap") M. Chrapowicki, a retired US Postal Worker and longtime resident of Sarasota, died January 14 at Doctor's Hospital at the age of 76 after his longtime battle with heart disease.
Tom is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia Chrapowicki; his sister, Lida (and husband, Bob) Smith of Oregon; his children, Lianne Poskus and Lynne Chrapowicki; his stepchildren, Jason (and wife, Tara) Richmond and Stacie Richmond Kurzhals; and his grandchildren, Connor, Marlyn, Carter and Greyson.
Tom was born in Poland on June 16, 1944 to Victor and Regina Chrapowicki. The family immigrated to the United States and Tom grew up in East Brunswick, New Jersey where he graduated from East Brunswick High School and later attended Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire. He served with the US Army in Vietnam.
Tom was an avid sports fan and loved to play, watch, (and coach from his recliner) ALL Sports – especially the Gators! He was a devoted "Poppy" to his grandkids and enjoyed being the # 1 cheerleader at many of their games and events.
He was a fun-loving friend, father, brother, uncle, and cousin who was always ready with a smile and warm greeting. He will be missed by many who wish him a peaceful eternity, and the perfect martini.
His funeral service is scheduled for 11: 00am on January 25 at the National Cemetery on Clark Road. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the American Heart Association and condolences may be sent to 5275 Benjamin Lane, Sarasota, Florida 34233.

Tom was a truly good guy. Track star- 100 yard dash, 200 yard dash, and the broad jump. Looked like he never gained a pound in his life. He was a starter on the HS basketball team as well.
