Pfeiffer, Walter
Walter A. Pfeiffer, 93, passed away December 31, 2018 at home after a long illness. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Walter and Anna Pfeiffer February 1, 1925. Walter graduated from the University of Connecticut with an engineering degree. He was a US Army veteran and served in World War 2 in Hawaii and Japan as well as in the Korean War. He married Doris and then worked as a civil engineer for the GSA in Washington, DC for 25 years before they retired to Englewood, Florida in 1984. He enjoyed reading poetry and non-fiction, golfing, gardening and creating rockwork structures in his garden. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Dorothy Pfeiffer. He is survived by Doris, his wife of 61 years and children Chris Mensing, Donna Jones, Katherine Williams and husband Dr. Tony Williams, and Walter Jr. Also grandchildren Julia, Phillip, Cody and his partner Brittany, a great-granddaughter Sofia, his sister Anna Mae Carolus and his special cat Miss Kitty. A celebration of Walt's life will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.
