Mr Shank landed on our runway in Powhatan late 60 or early 70. He over ran the runway and ended up on a road. There were no injuries. If you would like to hear the rest of this story let me know. He was a fine man

Dear Alice, Mary Beth, and Grace:

I was sorry to hear of your father's passing, and yet, I rejoice with him, and you, that he is now in his Heavenly home, free from pain and suffering. My thoughts are with you today as you are celebrating his life with family and friends. I'm sorry we could not be there with you in person but Ernie had another engaagement and I didn't want to make the trip alone. I am so happy we could see you and your father at the Mt Airy reunion several years ago. That was a special day of memories. I treasure the times we had together in our teenage years. I always looked up to your family and enjoyed the times I had in your home.

May God bless you with peace and reward you for your loving care of "Daddy" in his failing years. I wish you joy this Christmas season as you reflect on past Christmases with your dear parents. I wonder if our parents are enjoying a reunion in Heaven. I can just see them laughing and having a good time, can't you? I'm glad to have this way to express my condolences since I don't know your mailing addresses.

Much love,
Esther

I have many fond memories of the times I spent at the Shank household growing up. It always felt like a home away from home to me. I've known Walter all my life, as both my pastor and a close family friend. I will always remember his generosity and his (and Ann's) hospitality.

My sincere condolences and love to Glennys, and to Alice, Mary, Grace, and Allen. You are very much in my thoughts and prayers.
