John Collier Obituary

Collier, John R., age 72 of Trenton, passed away December 7, 2020. Born October 22, 1948 in Detroit to Juanita and the late Millard Collier. In August of 1989, John married the love of his life Lisa Traster. Together they lovingly raised 3 children Micah (Kim), Ian (Kourttney Leik), and Evan (Emily Green). Years later, John would become a proud Papa of 2 beautiful grandchildren Lola May and Oliver Colt. John is also survived by his siblings Charles (Cindy), James Kelly (Sandra), several nieces and nephews, mother and father-in-law Jesse and Barbara Traster, brothers and sisters-in-law Lynn (Tim) Richardson, Lori (Dennis) Durand, and Michele Traster. In addition to his late father, John was preceded in death by a brother Thomas, sisters Patsy Elkins and Patricia Russ, and brother-in-law William Traster. John worked for Trenton Public Schools for many years as a substitute teacher. He knew that education was his calling and was dedicated to his profession. In his spare time, John loved camping with friends and family. But there was nothing he adored more than being a Papa. In accordance with the family’s wishes, funeral services will be private. A celebration of life is being planned for a future date yet to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice and/or directly to the family to be put towards the grandchildren’s college education. To share a memory please visit:
