January 30, 2004 - July 8, 2024
Benjamin Johnson, 20, of Newton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 8, 2024.
He was born January 30, 2004, in Catawba County to Jim and Debra Johnson of Newton. Ben was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hickory and a graduate of University Christian High School. He was a North Carolina State University student, where he enjoyed attending NC State games with his mom and dad. Ben loved playing board games, card games, and watching movies on family night. He loved Chick-fil-A and living life in the fast lane. Ben looked up to his older brother and sister and had a special relationship with his younger sister. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his dad. Ben recently became a first-time uncle and loved his nephew. He had a sweet tooth like his dad and always indulged in homemade chocolate chip cookies and any other sweet treats he could find. Ben loved hard and had a heart of gold. His family will miss him but they know he is with Jesus and no longer hurting or lonely, but will rejoice when they see him again.
Ben was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wilson Martin; and paternal grandparents, Dr. James H. and Margaret Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are parents, Jim and Debra Johnson of Newton; brother, Charles Williard, and wife, Taylor of Nashville; sisters, Court Williard and wife, Rae of Charlotte, Margaret Johnson of Newton; maternal grandmother, Kay Martin of Statesville; numerous Aunts and Uncles.
A service to celebrate Ben's life will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 311 3rd Ave. NE, Hickory. Rev. Jennifer Forrester will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton.
