Bessie Hunsucker

Bessie Hunsucker CLAREMONT Bessie Caroline Huffman Hunsucker, 68, of Claremont, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born Dec. 22, 1943 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late George Huffman and Winnie Hedrick Huffman. Bessie worked in both the textile and furniture industries and retired from Southern Furniture. She enjoyed sitting with and caring for the elderly. Bessie's hobbies included fishing and working with her chickens. She most enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Harvey Huffman, Ed Huffman, Charles Huffman, "Bean" Huffman and Richard Huffman; sisters, Lillie Mae Lowman, Jeanette McCrary, Mary Bradshaw, Nancy Shook and Helen Pettigrew. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, James Wade Hunsucker, Sr., of the home; sons, James Wade Hunsucker, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Claremont, and Randy Dean Hunsucker, of Newton; daughter, Judy Kay H. Byrd and husband, Johnny, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kyle Hunsucker, Tiffany Bruce, Chassity Bruce, Caroline Hunsucker and Lucas Hunsucker; and a number of nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held Wednesday, May 30, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. Burial will follow in the Mt. View United Methodist Church Cemetery in Claremont. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Junior Hunsucker, Marvin Bradshaw, Eric Huffman, Tommy Hunsucker, Terry Huffman, David Huffman, Gary Wehunt and Chad Starr.
