Betty Galloway Hass, 85, of Newton passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
She was born May 18, 1937 in Catawba County to the late Spurgeon George Galloway and Lou Etta Mewes Galloway. Betty was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Newton. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and close friends, Ruby Rinehardt, Brenda Roberts, Carol Setzer, and Stacey Whitmire.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Samuel "Sam" Hass; and four brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory are; son: Wesley "Wes" Hass and wife Kim of Newton; daughter: Julie Wright and husband David of Lincolnton; grandchildren: John Hass (Nell), Hillary Burcham (Casey), Brittany Burgin (Johnnie), and Marti Shaw (Wesley); great-grandchildren: Samuel Burcham, Nora Burgin, Vera Hass, and Hazel Hass.
A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Rev. O. Ralph Kraft, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Memorial Park in Newton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service. Those serving as pallbearers are; John Hass, Johnnie Burgin, Casey Burcham, and Wesley Shaw.

I loved talking to Betty and she was always kind and loving in her communications. I still have a Norfolk Pine she gifted me and she will forever be in my heart. Family, I am sorry for your loss.
