Carl Hopper HICKORY Carl Hasan Hopper, son of Z. Ann Hoyle, affectionately known to all as "ButtaMan," was born Feb. 14, 1972, and departed this life Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012. Carl matriculated through the Hickory Public School System and graduated from Hickory High School in 1990. He attended Black World Barber College in Charlotte and began his career as a professional barber in Hickory. Carl was preceded in death by both biological parents, Carl Edward Hopper and Michelle Porter; two uncles, Joseph Lewis Hopper and Jimmie Hopper; and cousins, JoAnn Danner, Theodore Hopper, and Taurean Smith. Carl is lovingly survived by his children, Hasan Hopper, of Hickory, Athena Estes, of Jefferson, Nicolien Delint, Jada Bostic, Percy Hopper, Ava Hopper, all from the home. Loving memories of Carl will always be in the hearts of his mother, Mrs. Z. Ann Hoyle, of Hickory; two brothers, Clifton (Bendetta) Hoyle, of Charlotte, and David Porter, of New York; two sisters, Carla Cornwell, of Conover, and Karen Hoyle, of Hickory; four aunts, Dorothy (Hosea) Merrill, Linda Shade, Mabel Smith, Maxine (Daniel) Wright, all of Hickory; two uncles, Willie (Dorothy) Hopper and Ronnie (Kecia) Hopper, both of Hickory; two nephews, Travar Hoyle, of Fairfax, Va., and Kalyn Hoyle, of Hickory; four nieces, Myisha Hoyle, of Charlotte, Aja Hoyle, of Hickory, Bliss Hoyle and Tierra Howard, both of Charlotte; and many cousins, Andrew Hopper, of New York, Derrick Sherrill, of Hickory, Maurice Hopper, of New York, Anthony Merrill, of Tampa, Fla., Andrea Petty, of Hickory, Alesia Merrill, of Hickory, Janice Ramseur, of Hickory, Antione Hopper, of Houston, Tex., A. Bernard Bonds, of Dover, N.H., Yuronna Bonds, of Little Rock, Ark., Calvin Brown, of Gaffney, S.C.; Chancellor Smith, Ricky Carlton, Rashad Mungro, T'ailia Wright, Rhajia Wright, Mya Hopper, all of Hickory; and a very special friend, Elizabeth Branning; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. at Morning Star First Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
