Catherine Victoria "Vickie" Sipe Helms, 73, of Newton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Vickie was born June 27, 1948, in Catawba County, to the late Billy Loy Sipe and Evelyn Campbell Sipe Wise. She was a graduate of Maiden High School, a member of First Baptist Church in Newton, and retired from South Newton Elementary.
She is survived by two sons, Aaron Helms and wife, Lisa of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Matt Helms and wife, Heidi of Statesville; four grandchildren, Krissy H. Anthony and husband, Tyler of Conover, Carson Helms of Bettendorf, Makenna Helms of Bettendorf, and Riley Grogan of Statesville; brother, Eric Sipe and wife, Pam of Maiden; and niece, Kimberlee Sipe Smolak and husband, Ryan of Knighdale,
A memorial service will be held at Burke Mortuary of Newton Saturday, Oct. 23, at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Tommy Hullette and Pastor David Gary officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:15 a.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service. A fellowship meal celebrating Vickie's life will held be from 12:30 until 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church Newton's Family Life Building, 501 Northwest Blvd. in Newton. Inurnment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park at 3 p.m.

Vickie Helms was a wonderful fun loving person. I worked with her at South Newton Elementary. She was a wonderful Teacher Assistant. The most fun we had was at the Teacher Assistant Conferences. Vickie loved her family, friends, but most of all she loved God.
