Charles Cook Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Cook TAYLORSVILLE Charles "Charlie" Cook, 76, of Taylorsville, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation in Conover. Born Nov. 1, 1935, in Avery County, he was the son of Virginia Day Cook, of Bethlehem, and the late Emery Gleason Cook. He was a member of Disciples Mission of Granite Falls and worked in the furniture industry. Charlie was one of the kindest, most humble men you'd ever meet. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Cook and Roger Cook. Survivors include his mother Virginia Day Cook; his wife of 33 years, JoAnn Cook; two sons, Richard Huffman, of Bethlehem, and Carl Huffman, of Taylorsville; two brothers, James Dean (J.D.) Cooke and wife, Brenda, of Bethlehem, and Billy Cook, of Hudson; sister, Brenda Huffman and husband, Ken, of Shelby; grandchildren, Charlie Cook, of Catawba, Jason Cook, of Hickory, Garrett Huffman, of Bethlehem, Dustin Huffman, of Charlotte, and Candice Huffman, of Charlotte; and special friends of Conover Nursing and Rehab. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover. James Cook, Jr. will officiate. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent to the Cook family at drumfuneralhome. com. The Cook family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremations in Conover.
