Clyde Lewis Bruner

Clyde Lewis Bruner, 74, of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.

Born March 15, 1951, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Clyde Bruner and Ethel Harris Bruner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Pamela Combs Bruner.

Lewis was a lifetime member at Sweetwater Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He was a graduate of St. Stephens High School and CVCC. He was an avid "Antiquer", mostly toys and was a clock builder and repairman. He worked as a store manager for Winn-Dixie for 27 years where he enjoyed meeting many people and fellow employees.

Lewis loved being a grandpa (Paw Paw) and spending time with his family. He loved NASCAR especially Bill Elliott and was very proud of his own 1969 Camaro.

He was his own man who lived as he believed. He was a man of faith who spent his last years missing his beautiful wife.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Jenifer Carroll (Jamie) of Hickory, N.C., Josh Bruner (Sydney) of Wilmington, Del., Brittany Spencer (Chris) of Hickory, N.C.; brother, Stewart Bruner (Paula) of Carolina Beach, N.C.; grandchildren: Brannon, Blake (Abby), Brooklynn, Ivan, A.J., Addaline, Ash and Cade; brothers-in-law: Ray Combs (Sheri), Lee Combs (Cindy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Sweetwater Presbyterian Church with Pastor Robin Honeycutt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 3 to 4 p.m.
