December 17, 1959 - June 7, 2022
Daniel Edison Hardee, 62, of Granite Falls, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, following a period of declining health.
Dan was born Dec. 17, 1959, in Catawba County, to the late Edison Bugg Hardee and Ann Poovey Hardee. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Granite Falls, alumni of Lenoir-Rhyne University where he played football and was a member of the TKE fraternity. Dan was also a coach, athletic director, and teacher for South Caldwell High School for many years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Erin Hardee Ogburn (Christopher) and John Daniel Hardee (Danielle); grandchildren, Ophelia Hardee and Juniper Ogburn; siblings, Debbie Scarberry (Eddie Lail) and Tim Hardee (Karen); nieces and nephews, Alicia Price (Shaun Dennis), Amanda Gilliland (Richard), Kristen Dietz (Jason), Brad Hardee (Rachel) and Angela Scarberry (Brad Pennell); eight great-nieces and -nephews; and special friend, Gwen Longshore.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 11, at 3 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Granite Falls with Pastor Leo Fair officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Granite Falls. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Caldwell Christian Ministries, 5 Quarry Rd., Granite Falls, NC 28630.
