Denise Byers Obituary
Denise Coker Byers, 71, of Granite Falls, passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Born in Gaffney, S.C., Denise was the daughter of the late James Aubrey Coker and Arietta West Coker. She was of the Baptist faith. Denise graduated from Gaffney High School and Gardner-Webb University and attended Duke University. She retired as an administrator in Assisted Living.
She is survived by two sons, Jason Goudelock and wife, Karrie of Hickory and Chuck Goudelock of Hickory; as well as her adored grandchildren, Gavin Goudelock, Braeden Goudelock, Mason Steer and Hayleigh Goudelock; nieces, Carol Hodge Hamrick, Angela Hodge Lineberry (Marcus) and Sarah Hodge Franks (David); brother-in-law, Jack Kenneth Hodge; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Coker Hodge and Patricia Coker Whelchel Benton; and brother, James Mitchell Coker Sr.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m., in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N Limestone St., Gaffney, SC 29340.
