Doris Gantt Kaylor

Doris Gantt Kaylor, age 90, of Conover passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 18, 1935, in Newton, NC to the late Edgar Thomas Gantt and Nina Killian Gantt she was lovingly known as "Muga". She lived a long and full life defined by her faith, dedication, and kindness. She attended Valparaiso University, where she nurtured her love of learning. She married the love of her life, Joe Kaylor, on May 27, 1956 and dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister. Doris spent many years as an active homemaker. She was a great seamstress, musically inclined and very "crafty". She was active in Brownie and Girl Scouts and as a result provided meaningful direction to many young girls in Catawba County. She was a devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she participated actively in the Dorcas Society, Ladies Aid, and the Handbell Choir. She loved flowers, gardening and birds and was an active member of the Conover Garden Club. She spent many years as a skilled and dependable office manager for PemKay Furniture, Hardwood Furniture, Wood Products of Conover and Wood Technology.
Doris is survived by her son, Jeffrey Wayne Kaylor and wife Kelli; daughters, Doris Kaylor Goff and husband Tom, Melinda Kaylor Parks and husband Jake; sister, Talitha Gantt Bolick; grandchildren, Steven Thomas Goff and wife Meagan, Michael Ryan Goff and wife Elizabeth, Matthew Haydn Kaylor and wife Rachel, Evan Winfield Kaylor and wife Mary Grace, Kristen Jo Kaylor Royall and husband Sam; great grandchildren, Ryan Kennedy Goff, Aaron Kaylor Goff, Olivia June Goff, Amy Capri Goff, Mariana Jo Kaylor, Daphne Black Kaylor, Hadyn James Kaylor and Mason Wade Kaylor and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joe Wayne Kaylor.
A receiving of friends and family will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. with Reverend Michael Geml officiating. Burial will follow at the Conover City Cemetery.
