Edward Farmer Obituary
June 3, 1944 - August 12, 2025
Edward "Ed" Farmer, of Catawba, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, at the age of 81.
Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered for his strength, sense of humor, and constant support of those he loved. He was always ready to lend a hand, give a ride, or cheer from the sidelines. His greatest joy was time spent with his children and grandchildren, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience.
Ed proudly served his country in the United States Navy as part of the Seabees, completing two tours in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. Following his military service, he spent more than 20 years in management with E.R. Carpenter, working in Conover, N.C., as well Canada.
He loved the outdoors, from playing softball and fishing to spending time on the golf course - a passion he enjoyed until the age of 80.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; his daughter, Alisa Farmer of Catawba, N.C.; his son, Dorian Farmer and wife Heather of Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.; his grandchildren, Victor, Caroline, Josh, John, Kyra, and Leo; and his sister, Edna Farmer Leonard and husband Larry of Reidsville, N.C. He is also remembered by many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Marvin Farmer and Lassie Wood Farmer; his brother, Everett Farmer; his sisters, Ellen Phillips Bennett and Edith Farmer Greenway; and his infant grandson, Edward Saul Ramirez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the home of his daughter, Alisa, 5323 Millstone Dr., Catawba, N.C., all who knew and loved Ed are warmly invited to attend and share in honoring his memory.
