Floyd Painter

Floyd "Bully" Painter MAIDEN Floyd William "Bully" Painter, 86, of Maiden, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born Jan. 18, 1926, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Jim Painter and Ella Mae Goodson Painter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII. Floyd was a member of Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden. He was the owner and operator of The Seat Cover Center from 1956 to 1970, and then retired from the furniture industry. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Laney Airport Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Houser Painter; brother, John Painter; and brothers-in-law, Paul Saunders and Fred Garner. He is survived by two daughters, Mary P. Nelms and husband, Ken, of Kannapolis and Ida P. Sherrill and husband, Terry, of Maiden; three grandchildren, Sean Wilkinson of Charlotte, Chastity McRee and husband, Brian, of Maiden and Chad Painter of Denver, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Kegan Wilkinson and Afton McRee; two sisters, Minnie Belle Saunders of Maiden and Dora Garner of Richfield; sister-in-law, Lujean Painter of Lincolnton; and extended family, Tommy Wilkinson and wife, Donna, Kaitlyn Wilkinson, Zack Cotter and Bryan Sherrill. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 1, at 4 p.m. at Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden with Revs. Charles Ingle and Donald Cline officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian McRee, Kegan Wilkinson, Tommy Wilkinson, Rahn Painter, Donald Beard, and Rick Robinson. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Wilson. The family will receive friends today, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden. Memorials may be made to Mt.
