Frances R. Owens

HICKORY - Frances Eugenia Rimer Owens, 88, of Hickory, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born May 6, 1919, in Atlanta, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Fred E. and Marcelle Pickens Rimer. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hickory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Perry Owens Jr. Mrs. Owens is survived by two sons, Dr. Fred T. Owens and wife, Patti, of Hickory and Dan E. Owens and wife, Helen, of Franklin, Tenn.; a grandson, Tom C. Owens and wife, Meg, of Fairfax, Va.; three granddaughters, Kristi Crosier and husband, Matt, of Fairfax, Va., Mary Frances Owens of Richmond, Va., and Susanna Owens of Nashville, Tenn.; and a great-grandson, William Henry Owens of Fairfax, Va. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Hickory, with the Revs. Bob Roach and Earlynne Bartley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, Ga.
