Geneva Whisnant Johnson, 85, of Conover, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
Born June 15, 1939 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Louise Keller Whisnant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Johnson; a son, Kevin Dale Johnson; two brothers, David and Roy Whisnant; and a sister, Carol Eckard.
Geneva was a member of Sandy Ridge Wesleyan Church where she served as the church clerk for over 20 years. She had retired from Shurtape after 47 years of service.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cake decorating and bible studies but her main enjoyment was spending time with her family. She will be missed.
She is survived by her children: Teresa Raelynn Hollifield and husband Ken of Hickory, James Timothy Johnson and wife Teresa of Lebanon, OH; grandchildren: Jason Cole of Longview, NC, Jared Cole and wife Kristin of Statesville, NC, Erica Conner and husband Cody of Hudson, NC, Adam Johnson and wife Amanda of Maineville, OH; brother, Carl Whisnant, Jr. and wife Susan of Hickory, NC; sister, Linda Buff and husband Dale of Hickory, NC; sister-in-law, Willie Robbins of Conover, NC; daughter-in-law, Carla Johnson of Newton, NC; fifteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday, August 12, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Scott Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
