George Crider Obituary

George Crider, Jr. HICKORY George Washington "Jr." Crider, Jr., 86, of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Palliative Carecenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born March 10, 1925 in Catawba Co., he was the son of the late George Washington and Beulah Burns Crider. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Drina Crider; six brothers, Gerald Crider, Harold Crider, Ralph Crider, Jimmy Crider, Claude Crider and Odell Crider; and two sisters, Mildred Crider Brown and Rachel Crider Hicks. Mr. Crider is survived by a daughter, Julie Hatfull and her husband Peter; two grandsons, Simon Hatfull and Mark Hatfull, all of Austria; a number of nieces and nephews, special great-great-nephews, Devon Spake and Christopher Stumpf; caregivers, Debbie Spake Parlier, B.J. and Kim Spake and Lisa Price. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 10, in Oakwood Cemetery, with military rights. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday evening, March 9, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Palliative Carecenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658. Online condolences may be left for the family at bass-smithfuneral home.com. Bass-Smith Funeral Home is serving the family of George Washington "Jr" Crider, Jr.
