George McLean Obituary

LENOIR - George Douglas McLean, 71, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. McLean was born in Caldwell County to the late Willard McLean and Callie Robinson McLean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Mae Williams; three brothers, Bill Robinson and John and Stanford McLean; and three sisters, Edna Greene, Dorothy Stewart and Lula Friesland. He retired from Century Furniture and was a member of Miracle Church. Survivors include his son, William McLean and his wife, Susie, of Hickory; his daughters, Sharon Bowman and her husband, Ray, of Granite Falls and Kathy McLean and her boyfriend, Neal Sanders, of Lenoir; a brother, Eugene McLean of Hickory, a sister, Lela Reynolds of China Grove; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Pendry's chapel, with the Revs. Tim Suter and Johnny McNeil officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls. The family will receive friends at Pendry's Funeral Home from 6 to 8:30 tonight, Saturday. Serving as pallbearers will be Neal Sanders, Josh Blevins, Craig Holtzman Jr., Matthew McGuire, Matthew Hendren, Dale McLean and Larry Brown. The family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, N.C. 28645.
