Georgia Marshall Pruitt, aged 81, peacefully passed away on August 13, 2024, with her daughter Laura by her side. Georgia was born in Winston-Salem, NC, on January 3, 1943, daughter to the late George and Annie Marshall and sister to Sam Marshall of Charlotte, N.C.

After graduating from South West High School in Clemmons, she attended Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to complete her Bachelor's Degree.

In September 1968, Georgia married the late Howard L. Pruitt Jr. Georgia and Howard shared a mutual love of travel and family. They enjoyed supporting each other in their respective hobbies and interests, and were known and loved by their family and friends for their ready laughter and smiles.

Georgia devoted herself to raising her daughter, Laura. She was the carpool driver, field trip volunteer, costume maker, teacher, and listener, creating a loving, welcoming, safe, and happy home.

In addition to raising her family, Georgia dedicated much of her life to serving her church and community. For over 40 years, she was actively involved at Viewmont Baptist Church, participating in the choir, handbells, and praise band, teaching, and attending Sunday School. She also volunteered many hours with the Service League of Hickory and pursued her passion for music as a long-standing member of the Hickory Choral Society.

Georgia's role as a grandmother brought her immense joy. She and Howard rarely missed a ballgame or school program, always there to support their grandchildren. Sallie, Finley, and Matthew will forever cherish the memories of her ice cream treats and movie time.

Georgia is survived by her daughter, Laura Pruitt Lefevers, and husband, Mike of Hickory; grandchildren, Sallie Marie Lefevers and fiancé Grant Amos, Ann Finley Lefevers, and Matthew Howard Lefevers, all of Hickory; a brother, Sam Marshall of Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law, Ellen Marshall of Charlotte N.C. and Jennie Pruitt Hawks of Burlington, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Georgia is preceded in death by her husband Howard L. Pruitt Jr.; her parents George Marshall and Annie Holshouser Marshall of Winston Salem, NC.; and her brother-in-law William (Bill) Hawks of Burlington, NC.

A memorial service will be held at Corinth Reformed Church on Sunday, August 18, at 4 p.m. Rev. Paul Cummings will officiate, and a reception will follow.
