Glenn Hunsucker

July 17, 1934 - September 7, 2022

Glenn Allen Hunsucker, 88, of Terrell, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

He was born July 17, 1934, in Catawba County, to the late Oren Hunsucker and Virgie Huffman Hunsucker.

Glenn began his 45 years in the furniture industry, having worked miscellaneous jobs with Prestige Furniture. Bassett Furniture Industries acquired Prestige and Glenn began working his way up the organization to ultimately become president and a member of the Board of Directors. One of the highlights of his life was being able to attend Harvard Business School where he was able to spend time with other business leaders from around the world. He was very well respected throughout the furniture industry and loved sharing his expertise with local furniture companies during his retirement. Glenn always had a passion for sailing and loved getting out on the lake every chance he could and enjoyed playing golf with family and friends throughout the state.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Winfred Hunsucker, Orvin Hunsucker, Richard Hunsucker, and Benjamin "Ben" Hunsucker; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Hunsucker Sanders and June Hunsucker Abernathy; and the mother of his children, Gail Frye Hunsucker.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife: Susan Holcomb Hunsucker of Terrell; son, Allen Hunt Hunsucker and wife, Patty Lake, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughters: Amanda Hunsucker Finger and husband, Tony, of Marietta, Ga., and Melissa Hunsucker Hayes and husband, Brent, of Conover; grandchildren, Chase Finger and wife Erin of Woodstock, Ga., Cameron Finger and Megan Strabo of Atlanta, Ga., Cassidy Harrison and husband, David, of Morganton, Maddie Hayes of Cary, Drew Hayes of Vancouver, B.C., Canada; and great-grandchildren, Carly Finger, Cain Finger, Henry Finger, Sawyer Harrison, and Cooper Harrison.

A memorial service to celebrate Glenn's life will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at Rehobeth United Methodist Church in Terrell. The Rev. Michael "Mike" Rich will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Catawba County, P.O. Box 63, Hickory, NC 28603 or to a charity of your choice.
