Haley Nicole Elrod, 34, of Conover, passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
She was born July 8, 1987, in Iredell County to Robert James Elrod and Cathy Metcalf Elrod. Haley was employed with Newton Vision Center, where she worked as an optometric technician. She was an avid "I Love Lucy" fan. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Mearl Clyde Metcalf; maternal grandmother, Lou Ellen Newton Metcalf; and paternal stepgrandmother, Lois Elrod.
Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Robert James Elrod and Cathy Metcalf Elrod of Conover; brother, Corey Devon Elrod of Charlotte; four uncles; six aunts; 12 cousins; and numerous extended family.
A service to celebrate Haley's life will be held Friday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m., in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy. 16 in Newton. The Revs. David Hawkins and Paul Christy will officiate. A burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Bennett Funeral Service. The family requests that friends and family wear purple in remembrance of Haley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, 804 3rd St. Pl. SW, Apt. A., Conover, NC 28613.

Robert and family... our hearts are truly breaking for your family. The love that you share for each other has always been an amazing thing to see. You live within minutes of each other. You share everything. Family is everything and that is rare in this day and age. Cherish that. Cherish the fact that you had a very special and unique bond with your girl that very few families have. I too grew up with that special bond. I cannot imagine your pain right now. But I do know that our Savior Jesus Christ will wrap His arms around you when you need Him the most. Please just call on Him when you feel you can´t bear more. We are praying now for something that may seem impossible at the moment. And we will keep you in our prayers every day. We love you all God bless and comfort your family.

Haley,
I am still shocked over your passing. My heart is breaking for everyone that you met in your lifetime as I know you will not be easy to forget. You touched so many peoples lives without even knowing it. I will miss our bus rides home after school, Marching Band and Winterguard memories, the sight of you lost in a book and tuning out the world. I regret the last time I seen you that I didn´t reach back out to you. We were both at the laundry mat folding laundry. We laughed and caught up like we had never been a day apart in all those years. I hope you are enjoying Heaven as I have no doubt you are an Angel in Heaven as you were on Earth. I l´ll always love and miss you girl!!
