Harvey Herman Obituary

TAYLORSVILLE - Harvey Watts Herman, 81, of Taylorsville, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born June 6, 1927, to James Lloyd Herman and Betty Watts Herman in Alexander County. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Herman Higgins, Lucy Herman Barnes and Wilma Christine Herman, and two brothers, Clyde and Jasper Herman. Harvey was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. He was owner/operator of Brushy Mountain Service Station in Moravian Falls and rented numerous properties in Wilkes and Alexander counties. Loved ones left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Martha Nell Herman; two daughters, Jill Herman Childers and husband, Craig, and Joette Herman Farris, all of Taylorsville; two grandchildren, Monica Triplett and Justin Childers and wife, Mahala, all of Taylorsville; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Childers and Bryce Grayson Childers, both of Taylorsville; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, May 12, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Alexander Funeral & Cremation Service. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ray Ohlendorf will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Craig Childers, Justin Childers, Andy Kerley, Gary Sigmon, Lynn Dagenhart and Richard Mash. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 4005 N.C. 16 North, Taylorsville, N.C. 28681 or East Taylorsville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 906, Taylorsville, N.C. 28681. Condolences to the Herman family may be e-mailed to [email protected]. Funeral arrangements by the Herman family entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service staff in Taylorsville.
