James Leonard Little, 75, of Hickory, passed away unexpectedly while enjoying his love of travel on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, MI.
Born on March 11, 1949, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late, Herman Cartha and Mary Bass Little Price.
In addition to his parents; his stepfather, Clarence Price; and his sister, Elaine Little Sain preceded him in death.
Jim attended St. Stephens High School and Catawba Valley Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and owned his own business since 1975, Hickory Fence Company, Inc.
His hobbies include working in his garden, golf, classic cars, and traveling. Known for his generosity and sense of humor, he never met a stranger. He will be truly missed by friends and family.
His wife of nearly 51 years, Sandra Ward Little of the home; daughter, Brandee Little Wallinger; his son, Jordan Scott Little and wife Andrea; grandchildren, Sady Little and Chase Little; and his brother Rev. Donald George Little and wife Karen survive him.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 12 to 1:45 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Conover.
Funeral will follow at 2 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Conover, with Pastor Anton Lagoutine and Pastor Luke Self officiating.
Burial will follow in church cemetery with military honors presented. Pallbearers will be Norman Hendershot, Everette Evans, Charles Johnson, Chuck Coffin, Oz Hefner, and Stan Lail. Honorary pallbearers will be David Bostian, Wayne Auton, Jim Pennell, Chase Little, current and past employees of Hickory Fence Company, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 2126 St. John's Church Road, Conover, NC 28613.
