James Taylor Obituary

LENOIR - James Silver Taylor, 80, of Georgetown Estates in Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Taylor was born June 1, 1927, in Clinton County, Ind., to the late W.O. Taylor and Cordie Hudson Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Odie and Paul Taylor; his sister, LaVanna Taylor; and his great-granddaughter, Madison Pearson. Survivors include his wife, Carol Austin Taylor of the home; his son, Pete Taylor and wife, Melissa, of Gamewell; his daughters, Becky Hendrix and husband, Michael, of Lenoir, Allyson Taylor of Boone and Lezli Kolcun and husband, Chris, of Conover; his brother, David Taylor and wife, Ruth, of Washington, Ind.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Mr. Taylor will be held at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Pendry's Chapel, with the Rev. Joe Parker officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Taylor, Chris Kolcun, Michael Pearson, Brian Christie, J.D. Heard and Mike Hendrix. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir N.C. 28645 or Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20006, Attention: Development. Pendry's Funeral Home & Crematory in Lenoir is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be placed online at www.mem.com.
