John James Obituary
February 7, 1972 - August 20, 2022
John Roach James Jr., 50, of Lincolnton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, surrounded by love, family, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, at Lake Forest Church â€" WestLake in Denver, N.C., with Pastor Aron Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church, prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
John "J.J." was born Feb. 7, 1972, in Cleveland County, to John R. James and Mary C. James.
After graduating from Lincolnton High School in 1990, John spent many years at Town Square Ford in Lincolnton and most recently at Catawba County Emergency Vehicle Operations. A man of faith, he was well known for his love of people, good humor, and megawatt smile wherever he went. He never met a stranger. J.J. loved the outdoors, the Carolina Tar Heels, and coaching on the ball fields. Parents could always count on John to be a source of encouragement and positive motivation for their kids to never give up on their dreams.
His greatest joy in life was his family. An amazing husband to a wife whose life he forever changed and who loves him like no other, the rock that his girls leaned on for strength, and the glue that held everything together. He lived with a purpose to be the best husband and the best father to his two girls whose worlds revolved around him. To them, he hung the moon. He was, and will always be, their everything.
His positive attitude, gregarious and helpful nature, and his ability to put anyone at ease with grace and humor cultivated trust and great friendships through the years. He was a brother and a bonus dad to many. His friends were family with a bond that could never be broken. Many thanks to his "posse" of amazing friends who have loved his family well in these last weeks together. Words could never sufficiently express what this has meant to them. J.J. knows his cherished family is in good hands.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Ervin James; and two daughters, Hannah James and Maddie James of the home; his parents, Johnny and Mary James of Lincolnton; his sister, Jennifer James Ritter and husband, John, of Boone; sisters-in-law, Angie Clayton and husband, Hap, of Denver, N.C., and Logan Rice of Iron Station; father and mother-in-law, Milton and Linda Rice of Lincolnton; father-in-law, Tom Ervin of Iron Station; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Forest Church â€" WestLake, 2204 St. James Church Rd., Denver, NC 28037 or to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Dr., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

I am so glad I got to see JJ in July, he is a great man and working with J J for 11 years was never a dull moment. He loved his family with every fiber of his being and was a great cook. I will miss him but I know he´s in a better place.

I worked with J.J. at DTI he was a great friend. I never seen him mad or upset, he was always willing to help. Always having a good joke a funny story. J.J and I would always talk about sports he absolutely loved coaching softball. My condolences to the family. JJ will forever be a great friend of mine.

This just shocks me and breaks my heart. I worked with JJ for several years at DTI in Charlotte. He was the BEST! So kind, loving, funny hard working just an awesome guy. He loved his family and lived for his girls. Heaven has gained a very Fine Man that will be telling jokes and keep everyone laughing. You will be miss JJ RIP until we meet again.
