Joyce Elaine Watts Lewis, 81, of Hickory, N.C., passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
She was born April 1, 1944 in Catawba County to the late Luther and Morene Johnson Watts.
Joyce attended Eastern Carolina State University and then Secretarial school. She was a bookkeeper to begin her career and then spent 15 years in furniture sales thereafter.
Joyce was an excellent artist, a pottery enthusiast, loved dogs and was an avid reader. She was free-spirited, vivacious, and the life of the party.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Townsend (Max).
She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Allen David Lewis Jr., and they shared a most-special relationship, son, William LeFevers (Susan) of Newton, N.C.; many brothers and sisters-in-law; grandchildren, Megan LeFevers Johnson (Brian) of Lincolnton, N.C., Lauren Roser-LeFevers (Christine) of DeBary, Fla., and Nicholas LeFevers of Winston-Salem, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Rylan and Madalyn Johnson, and her princess fur-baby, Lexie. She was the BEST Mammy anyone could ask for!
The family will celebrate her life in a private ceremony at a later date.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the wonderful nurses and doctors and the hospital.
