Kathy Hughes CLAREMONT Kathy Ann Sheffield Hughes, 55, of Clare-mont, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at Brian Center East. Born May 31, 1955 in Moore County, N.C., she was the daughter of Edna Rebecca Sanders Sheffield and the late Roy Lee Sheffield. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hughes. She is survived by her husband, Richard Hughes; mother, Edna Sheffield of Claremont; daughter, Joanne McMa-han and her companion, Allen Greenard, of Hickory; son, Richard Hughes of Claremont; brother, David Sheffield of Conn-elly Springs; sister, Wanda Gwyn and husband, the late William Gwyn, of Hickory; and grandchildren, David McMah-an and Kiara Greenard. A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home with the Revs. Chris Chambers and Joe Green presiding. Burial will follow at Killian Cemetery in Hickory, N.C. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Billy Gwyn, Justin Gwyn, Richard Hughes, David McMahan, David Sheffield, Jr., and David Fowler.
