Kenneth Jerry Sigmon, known affectionately as Pawpaw to his family, passed away on October 18, 2025, at the age of 73, in Catawba County, North Carolina. Born on August 16, 1952, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, Kenneth was a man who lived his life with a profound sense of kindness and adventure.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pearl Sigmon, and his brothers, Don and Carol Sigmon. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Sigmon, and his children: Amy Smith and her husband Chuck, Chad Sigmon and his wife Tasha, Doug Sigmon and his wife Laurina. Kenneth's legacy continues through his seven grandchildren, Jordon Smith and his wife Katie, Hunter and Carson Smith, and Jeremy, Daniel, Allie, and Kenley Sigmon, as well as his great-grandchild, Blair Smith. He is also survived by his brother Glen Sigmon and sisters Kathryn Randall, Christine Yancey, and Kay Peeler.
A faithful member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Kenneth's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life. His career as a furniture upholster spanned over four decades, during which he honed his craft with dedication and excellence. Kenneth's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing. He found joy in the simplicity of riding his tandem bicycle with his wife through the countryside and the thrill of shooting hoops, playing catch, or throwing a football with his children and grandchildren in the yard. His love of ice cream was only surpassed by his unwavering support and love of his family.
Kenneth's adventurous spirit was matched by his loving and kind nature. He touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity. His laughter and stories will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A funeral service to remember the life of Kenneth will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gregg Plott officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. at the church before the service commences.
Kenneth Jerry Sigmon's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and a spirit of adventure. As we say goodbye, we also celebrate the enduring impact he has left on our hearts. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us in the years to come.
