Larry Scronce Obituary

Larry Scronce NEWTON Larry Benard Scronce, 71, of Newton died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011 at his residence, Born May 7, 1940 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Charles Kenneth Scronce and Lizzie Kate Jarrett Scronce. Larry was a retired truck driver from Overnight for more than 30 years, he was also an Army veteran serving in the Korean conflict. Larry was a man of great integrity and would give you the shirt right off his back. Whether it was a conscious decision or not, humor was accentual. He loved his family most and will be greatly missed by them. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Richard of Hickory; grand-daughter, Jennifer Clay of Hickory; great-granddaughter, Myona Clay; brothers, Bobby Scronce of Newton, Joe Scronce of Vale, Charles Scronce of Claremont, and formerly of Vale; sisters, Margaret Ikerd of Newton, Doris Jones of Vale, and Betty Cline of Newton. A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at Plateau United Methodist Church in Vale, with Pastor Bobby Petree officiating. The body will be lying in state at the church an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening, Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton. Pallbearers will be Matthew Branlock, Matthew Hovis, Andrew Nantz, Patrick Rowe, Eugene Scronce, and Timothy Scronce. Memorials may be made to Plateau United Methodist Church, 3315 Scronce Rd. Vale, NC 28168. Condolences may be sent to the Scronce family at www. drumfuneralhome.com. The Scronce family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.
