Leila Burris Obituary

LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Leila Kistler Burris, 83, of 1192 West Highway 150, in Lincolnton, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln. Her funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kim Trabold officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the church from 3 to 3:45 p.m., prior to the service. Mrs. Burris was born March 5, 1924, in Lincoln County to the late Roy Lester and Mamie Elizabeth Freeman Kistler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Clyde, Oscar, Marvin and Herman Kistler. Mrs. Burris was a wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, homemaker, and longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Risden Burris of the home; one son, Dr. Ray L. Burris and wife, Susan, of Lincolnton; two daughters, Delores B. Bolen and husband, Richard, of Lincolnton and Greta Allison Burris of Newton; five grandchildren, Angela Bolen Wilson of Olin, Doug Bolen of Lincolnton, Deitra Burris Black of Blufton, S.C., Macrae Burris Walters of Mount Holly and Jonathan Ray Burris of Lincolnton; five great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Black, Mallory Bolen, Andrew Wilson, Jon Christian Burris and Chloe Burris; and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 216 S. Aspen St., Lincolnton, N.C. 28092. Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton is serving the Burris family.
