May 29, 1919 - May 28, 2025
Mary "Louise" Baldwin Drum, age 105, just 12 hours shy of her 106th birthday, of Newton, N.C., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at TerraBella in Newton. Born on May 29, 1919, in Anderson County, S.C., Louise was the daughter of the late Henry Grady and Nonia McKinney Baldwin. She was a devoted member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden, N.C., and found great joy in tending her vegetable garden, a reflection of her enduring love for nature and simple pleasures. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, McCoy Drum; daughter-in-law, June H. Drum; two sisters, Mildred Baity and Frances Leamon; three brothers, J.W., Edward and Carl Baldwin. Louise leaves behind a legacy of love and family. Those who will cherish her memory include daughter, Joyce Frye and husband, Everette of Newton; son, Jarrell Drum of Charlotte, N.C.; grandsons, Ryan Frye and wife, Jenni of Newton; Adam Frye and wife, Madison of Wilmington, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Cailin Frye, Lilly Frye, Connor Ruebusch, and Morgan Ruebusch.
A funeral service to honor Louise's life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden, with Dr. Ed Yount and Dr. Barry Drum officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m., at the church. A private burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park on Monday, June 9, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church, Maiden. Condolences may be shared at www.burkemortuary.com. Burke Mortuary of Maiden is serving the Drum family.
