Mark Anthony Belton, 63, of Catawba, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at his residence.

He was born July 18, 1958, in Burke County, to the late James Hurley Belton and Gladdy Waller Belton.

Mark was employed as a fabric and leather cutter with Southern Furniture in Newton. He enjoyed gardening, working outside, classic cars and car shows. Mark also enjoyed spending time with family and helping other people when they needed anything.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Don Belton, Dean Belton, Hurley Belton, Michael Belton, Harry Belton, and Richard Belton; sisters, Carolyn Belton and Barbara Whisnant; special brother-in-law, Jeffery Huffman.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Betty Huffman Belton of the home; son, Gary Belton and wife, Chrissy, of Newton; daughter, Amy Belton Stephens and husband, David, of Catawba; brothers, Robert Belton and wife, Dora, of Connelly Springs, Johnny Belton and wife, Wanda, of Boone, and Raymond Belton of Catawba; sister, Arlene Webb and husband, Bruce, of Newton; grandchildren, Layla Wooten, Rylee Wooten and Ellie Belton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Mark's life will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m., in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy. 16 in Newton. The Rev. Tommy Young will officiate. Burial will follow at Hudson Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service, prior to the service. Those serving as pallbearers are: Robert Belton, Raymond Belton, Johnny Belton, Eddie Belton, Michael Mosteller, Andrew Mosteller, Jacob Mosteller and David Stephens.
