January 19, 1952 - April 18, 2025
Michael Dean "Mike" Storie, 73, of Hickory, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Carolina Caring.
Born January 19, 1952, in Valdese, NC, he was the son of the late Doyle Luther Storie and Norma Ellen Smith Storie.
Mike was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan. Mike was an excellent cook and loved spending time with the Marsh, Danner, and Queen families.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Emily Sue Marsh Storie; his sister, Brenda Queen (Jerry); a nephew, Allen Queen (Chealssea); two nieces, Kristen Ledford (Shannon) and Heather Queen (Brandan); two great nephews and one great niece; and his faithful canine companion, Heidi. He is also survived by his daughter, Wendi Jones; three grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in the Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jan Lovelace officiating.
The family will receive friends, from 1 until 2 p.m., prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 2805 Kool Park Rd NE, Hickory, NC 28601, the Humane Society of Catawba County, P.O. Box 2472, Hickory, NC 28603, or to the Hickory VA Clinic.
