Nadine Lee Calloway, 87, of Newton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
Born Feb. 21, 1935, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Oscar and Laura Houston Lee.
Nadine was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in Catawba. She retired from Catawba Memorial as a nurse where she worked for 26 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Calloway; son, Michael Calloway; great-grandson, Jake Morgan; and four brothers, Pete, Joe, James and Bob Lee.
Left to cherish her memory are son, Charles Calloway III and wife, Nancy, of Catawba; daughter-in-law, Ann Calloway of Catawba; sister, Minnie Shook of Catawba; two grandchildren, Mark Calloway, Carol Blake and husband, Mark; and great-grandson, Rion Morgan.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 3 p.m., at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Catawba, with the Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.

Nadine was one of the first nurses I worked with at Catawba- back in `77. She was a hard worker and an excellent nurse. She and Betty Cline were the dynamic duo of 3rd shift on the Surgical Floor!
Recently, I had a chance meeting with Nadine at the hospital- where it all started. We shared some fun memories. I was reminded of just how sweet and kind she was. May your family find comfort in the memories of a life well lived.
