Paul Lail

HICKORY - Paul Lail, 80, of Granite Falls, died Oct. 16, 2006, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born Aug. 30, 1926, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late James Alfred Pinkney Lail and Callie Hollar Lail. A member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he was the assistant Sunday school director for more than 25 years, he retired from Century Furniture Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Bethlehem Ruritan Club and a charter member of Brushy Mountain Golf Club. Mr. Lail was preceded in death by brothers, Taft Lail, Fred Lail, Lester Lail, Charles Lail and Wade Lail; and sisters, Lillie Lail Stafford, Hattie Lail Simmons, Mary Lou Lail and Estelle Lail. Survivors include a brother, Noah D. Lail of Bethlehem; a large number of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces. He was a loving uncle who took pride and interest in all of his nephews and nieces. He loved the Lord, his family and playing golf. "Uncle Paul" was everybody's favorite uncle and brought much joy to his extended family. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Lambert and Dr. Jack Carver at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
