Robert "Bob" Harold Fisher
April 2, 1947 - June 26, 2025
Robert "Bob" Harold Fisher, 78, of Denver, NC passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at his residence.
He was born April 2, 1947 in Madison County to the late Donald Frank Fisher and Bula Sprinkle Fisher. Bob was a member of Madison Seminary Baptist Church and a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a 1965 graduate of Marshall High School and a standout football player, earning an athletic scholarship to Mars Hill College.
Bob spent his entire career in the trucking and logistics industry, working as a lease operator, truck owner, and terminal manager. He began driving for Haynie Coal Company as early as 12 years old, and was later leased to Norton Ramsey, Mason Dixon, and Central Transport. He eventually became a terminal manager for Superior Carriers and Heniff Transport.
An avid antique truck lover, Bob was a member of the Upstate Palmetto Chapter of the American Truck and Historical Society, and the Western North Carolina Truck Club. He restored the last truck he drove, a 1979 Kenworth K-100 tractor known as "Old Blue", as well as a 1956 Mack B-61. Bob was also an avid sports fan. He loved the Carolina Tar Heels and was an original Carolina Panthers PSL owner, faithfully attending all of their home games and their Super Bowl 50 appearance in San Francisco.
Known for his larger-than-life personality and quick wit, Bob had an unrivaled sense of humor and was always ready with a mischievous smile. Above all, he cherished his family and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them, especially later in life.
Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, James Fisher, who he had a very special relationship with.
Those left to cherish his memory are wife of 53 years, Evelyn Bishop Fisher of the home; son, Brandon Fisher and wife Crystal of Hickory; granddaughter; Madison "Madi" Fisher and significant other Dawson Gay; brother, Jack Fisher of Atlanta; sister, Donna Ward of Marshall; nephews, Bryan Pitts (who was like a second son) and wife Deb; Patrick Medlin and wife Jess, and children Jackson and Ella; Tim Ward and wife Denise, and children Brianna and Kelsey; nieces, Tara Radke and husband Kevin, and children Caroline, Sam, and Luke; Kim Showalter and husband Mark, and children Blakely and Eiley; Jennifer Buntin and husband Michael, and children Alex and Emma; Christina Fisher-Hensely and husband Brandon; adopted grandsons, Angel Chavez, Anthony Chavez, Julio Chavez, and their families; fur baby, Sadie.
