Robert McClure Obituary

HICKORY - Robert J. McClure, 58, of Hickory, passed away Sept. 15, 2008, at Grace Hospital in Morganton. Born Jan. 28, 1950, in Tampa Fla., he was the son of Joseph Mario Conde and Elizabeth Lowe Logan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Lee Ellis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen "Robin" Lackey McClure of the home; a sister, Mara Ovens and husband, Kenneth "Duffy" Ovens, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Mark Lackey and wife, Lisa, of Hildebran; his mother-in-law, Sue S. Lackey of Rutherford College; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Ellis of Hildebran; a niece, Stacia Kelly and husband, Douglas, of Jacksonville, Fla.; three nephews, Richard Ellis and wife, Blondie, of Hickory, Robert Kelly Lackey of Hildebran and Andrew Rhyne Lackey of Valdese; a great-niece and a great-nephew, Morgan and Matthew Kelly of Jacksonville, Fla; two cousins, Michael J. Simo and wife, Ann, of Washington, N.C., and Richard K. Simo and wife, Sybil, of Winter Haven, Fla.; and very special friends that we call family. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Hickory, with the Rev. A. Wade Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for expenses. Online condolences may be left for the McClure family at www.bass-smithfuneralhome.com. Bass-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family of Robert J. McClure.

I wish to express my heartfelt sympathy in your time of great sorrow. Only those who have lost a loved one can know the depth of your feelings. I have experienced the death of my parents, a child and my grandparents. I know how difficult these times can be for those left behind.
