Robert Franklin Painter, 75, of Granite Falls, lost his hard fought battle with cancer Friday, July 1, 2022, and passed peacefully into his Heavenly Father's arms, surrounded by his family.

Born Feb. 9, 1947, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Dock Franklin and Katherine Cobb Painter.

A member of Christ Lutheran Church, he was retired from Southwood Furniture and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Robert enjoyed serving his Lord as an Usher at Christ and made it a point to attend service as often as he was able.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Painter Jr.; stepsons, David and Todd Bradshaw; and a brother, Jack Painter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jean Yount Painter; his adoring daughters, Lisa Painter Hager and husband, Kenny, Ann Painter Fernandez and husband, Enrico; proud son, David Painter and wife, Amey; stepdaughter, Shawn Bradshaw Terry and husband, David; brother, Michael Painter Sr.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, July 6, at 2 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, with Pastors Richard Tucker and Alec Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.
