Sylvia Woodruff Obituary

Sylvia Woodruff MORGANTON Sylvia Anders Woodruff, 69, of Morganton, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Caldwell County, Dec. 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Beuys Anders and Bessie Spicer Anders. Sylvia was a homemaker; she was a great baker and flower gardener. She loved animals and the outdoors. Along with her first husband, Billy, she owned and operated Billy Dee's Barbeque as well as other food establishments. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Sylvia is survived by her husband, Dan Byrd, of the home; sons, Jeffrey Alan Woodruff and wife, Shawn, of Lenoir and Joel L. Woodruff and wife, April, of Granite Falls; a stepson, Kevin Byrd and wife, Spring, of Lenoir; a stepdaughter, Colleen Byrd, of Conover; grandchildren, Cullen L. Woodruff, Gabriel A. Woodruff and Peyton Byrd; and siblings, Barbara Watson and husband, Ross "Pete", David Anders and wife, Elaine and Nancy Brooks and husband, Johnny, all of Lenoir. In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Dee Woodruff, and a brother, Gerald Sonny Anders. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 12, at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, with the Rev. Kevin Matheson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, Aug. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690. Condolences may be made online at www. sossomanfuneralservice. com.
