William Rector Obituary

Glenn Rector TAYLORSVILLE William Glenn Rector, 75, of Hiddenite, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 24, 2011. He was born in Alexander County on Christmas Day, 1935, to the late Earnest James and Beulah Icenhour Rector. Retired from Southern Screw, formerly of Statesville, he was a compassionate daddy, brother, Christian, and friend. Glenn enjoyed gardening, painting, and tending to his cows, as well as hunting and fishing. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved barbeque. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters, Henkel Icenhour, Clifford Rector, Graydon Rector, Johnny Rector, Christine Massey, and Jo Ann Frye. Those left to cherish his memory include his three children, Mark Rector and his wife, Angie; Marty Rector and his wife, Bobbi-Ann, and Jada Plott and her husband, Joe; four grandchildren, Nathan Rector, Tangie Rector, Luke Rector, and Noah Rector; his brother, J.P. Rector and his wife, Peggy; two sisters, Mildred Clark and Lois Jean Lovette and her husband, Bob; in addition to a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Alexander Funeral Service from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 27, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Hidd-enite at 3 p.m., where Rev. Brian Eades and Rev. Buster Treadway will officiate. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Keith Gilliam will offer words of comfort at the graveside. Curtis Rector, Jeffery Worley, John Johnson, Lynn Moose, T.R. May-berry, and Jeffrey Spry will serve as pallbearers. Honoraries will be Brace Warren, Johnny Rhyne, Phillip Starnes, and David Moose. In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House at 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.alexfuneralservice.com Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
