William Varnadore Obituary

Mac was promoted to his eternal home in Heaven on May 7, 2025, at the age of 80.
Mac was born November 11, 1944, in Hickory, NC, to Barbara and William Varnadore, Sr. He attended Union High School and in June 1965 enlisted in the Army where he served a tour of duty at Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Sam Houston, TX, Okinawa, Japan and Vietnam. After his military service Mac lived in Hickory, NC, where he went on to graduate from Appalachian State University with a degree in Business Administration. He served with the Catawba County Sheriff Department for 12 years. In 1986 Mac moved to Hendersonville, NC where he managed a plant in East Flat Rock and then in 1994 returned to law enforcement with Henderson County Sheriff Department and served until his retirement in February 2009.
Mac was a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville. One of Mac's passions was golf. He would never turn down a golf game. Many times, he could be found at Hot Dog World with his brothers. He dearly loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Varnadore; and his children, Selena Varnadore and Kevin Varnadore; granddaughter, Audrey Sigmon; brothers, Tony Varnadore (Becky), Terry Varnadore (Tina) and Michael Varnadore (Chin). He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Rick Varnadore and sister, Patsy Bradley.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Hendersonville First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating.
Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
A private burial was held at the WNC VA Cemetery in Black Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in Mac's memory.
