David Ashton Obituary

A service for David Nathaniel Ashton will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 3 at Joshua Spring Calvary Chapel, with Pastor Fem Ontiveros officiating.

David died March 18, 2023, in Palm Springs. He was 42 years old.

The son of Merton and Diana Ashton, he was born Feb. 26, 1981, in Ogekubo, Japan. He lived in California for 41 years.

David was a graduate of both Yucca Valley High School and the University of Redlands and was a member of the championship football team of both schools. He belonged to the Pi Chi fraternity at the university of Redlands. He earned a Master of Arts in education from Concordia University in Irvine and taught middle school science and math at Joshua Springs Christian School and then the Monterey School District.

David was an adventurer at heart. He traveled from the Greek islands to Japan and walked the Great Wall of China. He plunged into the icy waters of Barrel, Alaska, the northernmost point of the USA, and took a language immersion class in Costa Rica. He touched many lives in a positive way and we miss him.

His father, Merton Ashton, preceded him in death.

He is survived by wife Sarah Ashton, stepdaughter Jaylin Mosqura, mother Diana Ashton and brothers Jonathan Ashton and Stephen Ashton.
