Paul Smith Obituary

Paul Smith was a beautiful, bright, loving and intellectually
diverse man.
On April 23, 2024, Paul Smith passed away in his sleep at his independent living center in Palm Springs. Paul was the beloved son of Robert and Dorothy Smith.
Paul is survived by his children, Meredith Plummer and Stan Smith, as well as his sister, Pat Flanagan, and brother, Steve Smith. Paul's wife, Jane Smith, preceded him in death in July of 2021.
Paul also leaves behind his three amazing grandchildren, Isabel Plummer, Natalie Plummer and Valerie Smith, as well as his stepchildren, Brock Grunt, Heidi Grunt, Hans Grunt, Gretchen Grunt and Christian Grunt, and their children, Phoebe, Kohl, Aden, Dane, Christian, Bohdan, Morrigan, Ryan, Nick and Hannon.
Paul was also married earlier in his life to Susan Vaughn (nee Campbell) from 1964 until 1989. He lived in La Canada and then South Pasadena before relocating to Twentynine Palms in 1989.
Paul was a distinguished attorney, Certified Public Accountant, judge, writer, historian and innkeeper. His multifaceted career was a testament to his dedication and passion for his community, leaving a significant and lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of working with him and knowing him.
Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory and legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched.
A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Twentynine Palms. Later in the same day (4 p.m.), a celebration of life will take place at the 29 Palms Inn.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Copper Mountain Community College Foundation.
